Remembering Denise Wigham

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Denise Wigham, who was a valued member of our team at Campaign for Learning. Denise passed away on Saturday 9 August following a long illness.

Denise joined Campaign for Learning in April 2023 as the Administration and Campaigns Assistant, supporting our events, campaigns and programmes. She brought with her a background of over 20 years in finance administration across government departments, banks and the private sector.

Denise was incredibly passionate about lifelong learning and pursued studies in philosophy, religion and ethics. Known for her strength and fortitude, she approached her illness with a solutions-focused mindset and remarkable courage.

Juliette Collier, National Director for Growth at Campaign for Learning and Denise’s close colleague said, “We are desperately sorry to lose Denise. She was a valued colleague who provided the Campaign for Learning team with great support over these past two years, across our varied project work. She will be remembered as both curious and brave, the latter shown in abundance as she faced her diagnosis and managed her illness with dignity. Above that, I will add what I knew of her personally, in that she was passionate about cats and the actor Mads Mikkelsen, who she'd met many times, even being snapped with him on one of her more recent encounters. I always promised that we would share this picture of her with him’.

Denise’s kind spirit, dedication and warmth will be deeply missed by all of us.
